This impressionistic image shows colored rocks, fallen leaves and cast shadows on Tassajara creek's bed adding depth and drama to these photographs. The camera's interpretation of this interplay of elements results in surprising and spontaneously occurring abstract and painterly expressions.
This photograph was shot "soft" intentionally, as a way of expressing the vision beheld by my painter's eye, rather than as a traditional photographic documentation.
Deborah Ann Good holds a BFA and participated in graduate studies in painting at San Francisco State University. Deborah's abstract paintings are the result of her studies in Qigong spontaneous movement and her creek photographs are influenced by composer John Cage's philosophy of using chance procedures to eliminate artistic preferences in his work. Her illustrations and figurative paintings are informed by her studies in design, color, symbolism, art history, Zen Buddhism, perennial philosophy, a fascination with astronomical images and an abiding interest in metaphysics. Deborah left a career as an art director to pursue her interest in painting, drawing, photography and meditation.
