These images capture precise moments in the dance between sky reflections and sunlight on the water's ever-changing surface. Colored rocks, fallen leaves and cast shadows on the creek's bed add depth and drama to the moment-to-moment interplay of the elements.
Being drawn to the water again and again, as it revealed a sublime beauty, the artist began to feel she was the creek's muse, rather than it hers.
Deborah's interest in photographing moving water was sparked when she read about composer John Cage's use of chance procedures to eliminate artistic preferences in his work.
Deborah Ann Good holds a BFA and participated in graduate studies in painting at San Francisco State University. Deborah's abstract paintings are the result of her studies in Qigong spontaneous movement and her creek photographs are influenced by composer John Cage's philosophy of using chance procedures to eliminate artistic preferences in his work. Her illustrations and figurative paintings are informed by her studies in design, color, symbolism, art history, Zen Buddhism, perennial philosophy, a fascination with astronomical images and an abiding interest in metaphysics. Deborah left a career as an art director to pursue her interest in painting, drawing, photography and meditation.
